newbie need help
Hey what's up. I'm new to cycling in general but started out cus of car troubles n want to continue. So I'm wanting to buy an older/ used road bike for commuting n this dude selling a sebring superlight but the decal on it says Sterling. I know sebring is a Murray or nishiki bike but I'm having trouble looking up Sterling bikes. Can anybody help decipher the code. Would really appreciate it.

Roninsteez, I don't know much about your bike in particular but just a quick overlook shows that it is a decent bike. Your crankset looks to be a Shimano Exage with Biopace chainrings on it, that is a nice set that should give you many miles of use. You also have shifters on the down tube which points to a better than entry level bike. Looks like you have quick release wheels and if the rims are aluminum it is a great buy. Make sure it fits you and that it's not dented or rusted and it should be a great candidate for commuting. Look on the frame for a sticker indicating the material the frame is made of, chrome molybdemum (ChrMo) butted steel is great for commuting. Hope this helps, more pictures on the Vintage Forum should give you a more in-depth look at your bike specs.

MY own philosophy is that if they are already offering it at the low end of reasonable or better, I usually won't haggle much, if any. In this case, I would just buy it for the $100. That's just me, however. Some feel it is important to always negotiate the price.
As a comparison on value for such a price, I bought this for $40 recently and had somewhere between $150 to $200 in it after I was done with the overhaul and upgrades.
