This is my oak tree.
She is a proud and noble tree. It takes three men to hold hands around her.
She has shaded my house for more than a hundred years. She may very well be older than the country.
She also produces a crap load of acorns. I have a bunch of them sprouting in the pile of leaves on the roof of my screened porch.
Anyone want a seedling from my oak?

I have a similar oak tree right next to my house....holy crap at the acorns produced last year. I swear I picked up about 10 2gallon buckets full of the damned things....and there were still tons of them everywhere.....little tiny acorns. Major PITA!....that thing is coming down when I get past the 2 years window required.
Yeah. Too bad there's not a market for acorns.
They are edible....but you have to leech out the tannins....unless you enjoy shutting your kidneys down.

Majestic! It needs a treehouse. If only an eight-year-old could climb that high.
A slice out of the lower trunk would make an interesting table. I know a guy that works at a timber mill, one of these days when I get the chance I'm going to get him to cut me a big diagonal slice out of one of our giant redgums and have a desk the size of a living room table made out of it. I bet it'll look spectacular in my office.

I’m a little depressed…some of our Oaks are dying and will need to be cut down soon. I’m having a hard time facing the reality.
Many of mine are already dead from Bacterial leaf scorch (BLS)(not to be confused with WBLS a nice radio station in NYC). The Pin Oaks have been hit the most. Every other one is either dead or dying. But the White Oak seems to be holding it's own, so far.
