My husband gets "tractor neck" from turning his head to look behind the tractor while he's making hay... we don't have a super-tractor with all the fancy techno-gadgets, just a regular JD 5325.
Anyway, I was thinking of attaching a bike-cam to the back of it, which would be wired to a Kindle Fire mounted in front of him. Would this work? There are probably better solutions?

I don't think you'd need to get that fancy. Any old cheapo video baby monitor or security cam would do it, just wire it up to the right screen (the baby monitor would already have a screen).

Could go low tech and just strap a mirror to his head somehow.

if he wears sunglasses maybe a "take a look" mirror would work. actually a pair one for each side of the frame.
There is nothing to wire the Fire to. The only input it has is a micro-usb port. So unless the bike cam outputs via a micro-usb, I am not sure how you could get it to work.

I rigged up a rear view from a car backup camera setup, powered with a couple of radio batteries in parallel. It does work, but not really easy to see in daylight,

Those reverse camera work... in reverse? I'm looking for at least a 7" screen of some sort that can accept a direct video feed when the camera is on, yet the camera has to be sturdy enough for a tractor ride.
