    sqeaking bb90 Trek 5.3 2011

Got caught in a rain storm this weekend, since then, noise coming from bottom bracket area....sounds like it could be from a rubber seal. Never taken cranks off, picked up the plastic star tool, and teflon grease the other day.....any hints, suggestions or tricks appreciated.( 5.2 Madone not 5.3) about 4k miles

I had one start squealing on a customer a couple months ago. I went to the extent of completely flushing out and repacking the offending cartridge, but the customer brought his bike back a few days later with the same problem, so I replaced the cartridges.

Got it apart this weekend, one bearing was leaking a brown drizzle, and turning rough, other seemed OK,took the seals off with a dull steak knife, and soaked it in Aero Kroil (Kano).then scrubbed and cleaned bearings and races.washed it all down w/ some Dawn and hot water, seemed clean and turned freely. Wanted to get some Phil's Waterproof grease, but used some Finish Line Teflon to pack bearings. Took for a couple of miles test ride, seems OK. Will take for a long PM ride Tuesday. Will probably pack both bearings w/ Phil's,when I get a chance.

Get some good lithium grease from the auto parts store.
