I've been trying to find a black quill stem with a 90 mm reach and 26.0 clamp with disappointing results. I know that silver Nittos are available in that size, but a black stem would really look best on my frame (which is black). I found a nice Cinelli 1A for a good price, but the seller mislabeled the size and it has a 26.4 clamp. What is particularly discouraging is that I found a black 3ttt in aparently the correct size on eBay at the same time, but bid on and won the Cinelli while the 3ttt auction was still going on. Now I can't find anything unless I want to spend $150 for a stem that may or may not fit.
Is it possible to anodize or paint a new silver stem black? Or should I just get a silver stem and move on? I know that I can keep searching eBay and something will turn up eventually but I want to get the new bike built and start riding it. Changing quill stems is such a hassle once the bike is built up.
I also have a 100 mm Nitto Deluxe and perhaps should just install it and ride the bike for a while to see if that will work.
