It's eally nice that you got Nelli started with that C&V bike as it will most likely be something she will have an open mind on after she is taken away by the lure of of more modern CF bikes that is surely in her future. Once she does "graduate" to newer, higher tech equipment, it would be a good idea to store away and protect that nice little bike she started on as she will surely look for it in the future when she has her own kids to pass on your C&V tradition to them too....
Go Nelli Go!! The BF C&V gang will be always rooting for you and your dad on your next rides!

today she started polishing the nisi rims on the other 24" build i am well into.
she helped alot on her first vintage build-her first 24" the citybike

tomorrow she will go to MTB junior youth group-hope she plays nice with the others

told me that her daughter is not just a normal 8-year old, and he put his confirmation with
a picture. OK, the daughter must get involved and is very welcome."

this is Nelli's first year on a racing bike, and has pushed hard many times around Tuusula lake(24kms)
with her father. Nelli has six bicycles, one to ride to school, one mountain bike,

We think about cycling in the end, that maybe fifteen years from now we will see Nelli in
major cycling races. We will be then probably at the old age home and the nurses
can hardly believe, when we shout "I cycled with that girl".
That's just awesome! Nelli has provided my 9-year old girl, Lillian with some great motivation to ride some more with dad. She bugged for months to find her a road bike "with skinny tires" like dads but when I did, she was rather intimidated and reluctant to ride much. Since showing her this thread she's gotten out a bit more often and learned some handling skills such as mounting and stopping/dismounting. This was her biggest hang-up, once on she rides like the wind but was scared to stop! Now if I can get her wrenching...

Amazing and heartwarming, I enjoyed this a lot. But for a cyclist of her stature? The horse has to go.
I could agree with this...horse riding is an expensive hobby and no money to be reclaimed.
cycling -your ride waits faithfully for you and has a value that can be reclaimed when the time comes.

Me: I've learned a lot about cycling by my mistakes, and I can repeat them perfectly! My Bikes: Vitus-979, Simplon-4-Star, Gazelle-AB, Woodrup
SO cool!! Got a BMX type for my son at about that age and he tried it a couple times and parked it in the garage. It WAS awkward for him, he was born missing one arm, and riding the BMX just did not "FIT" him comfortably. At 11, he found an old SMALL Takara (50cm) road bike in the back of the garage (I had bought for parts for MY bigger Takara...that went missing before I could upgrade). We restored it and he has been roadbiking ever since. Now, at 14, he is riding a bigger 86 Team Fuji, he LOVES C&V, I am starting to have a time keeping up with him! Hope she keeps that passion and keeps YOU young! Keep on Rolling!!
This to me is one of may fav threads on all of BF!
