I've done RAIN the last 5 or 6 years. It's a well run event, and is a real accomplishment to finish.

Did it in 2003 when I was 43. Hope to do it next year with a couple of my kids!

A group of us from work are hitting it in 2013. All RAIN virgins.

i want to do it next year. im in OH, so it'll be close. i heard its a long route, but i havent looked at elevation and stuff. my biggest climbing days so far have been a 60ish and 102ish both had ~4300' or so, and a few centuries... then again, i really just started this year. hopefully i'll be ok.

    going to do research now

Myself and few others are planning to do the RAIN this coming year. I am in Central Indiana (45min south of Indy) so there is no excuse for me as it is happening in my back yard.

My wife and I are registered for RAINSTORM. We are seasoned riders, but haven't done a multi-day, multi-century tour before. We were thinking that at least one of us would have a rear rack and a rear rack bag ("trunk") to carry stuff on the route each day. Is that typical for this type of event, or do most people travel light by simply using a seat bag and jersey pockets? Anyway, we read about it in this months Adventure Cycling. Sound like a great time!

You won't see many people carrying anything other than flat repair. I did it as a 3-day self supporting camping ride in 2011 (home to Terre Haute Friday, RAIN Saturday, Richmond to home Sunday), and quite a few people remarked about my gear during the ride.

I'm sure you'll have fun on RAINSTORM.

2 year veteran here. Probably will do it again this year but I'm slow to commit.
    What is bicycle touring?

I registered for the 2013 RAIN ride last week. It will be my first. I can't wait to do it and have that finishers medal in my hand.

Did RAIN in 2010 and hope to do RAINSTORM sometime in the next couple years.

edit to add that I just signed up for this year's RAIN since I be in Bloomington that week.
