Some nice tents on sale at Sports Chalet!

I picked up a Sierra Designs Lightning HT2 for $150--a two person tent, under 4 lbs, an extremely roomy design, the pole sections are about one foot long so they can easily fit in a pannier, and the colors are a reasonable gray and green for stealth camping.

I was also considering another great deal: http://www.sportchalet.com/product/o...416_3072659.do

The SD Zia 2 comes with footprint and gearloft, but the blue color, a little more weight, and 22 in. long pole sections put me off. Maybe it would be your cup of tea.

I also got a Marmot Nomad 20F down bag for $100 while I was at the store (San Diego). They had a lot of down bags on sale.

I hope letting other tourists know of good deals doesn't violate some policy here. Is there some special forum for that?

Nice tents in a decent price range. Here is a review for another one I have been considering:

What store in San Diego did you get the bag?

The same Sports Chalet in Mission Valley Center. The website said they had two Lightning HT2 tents in stock, and I found them under a pile of other tents on the shelf. A salesman pulled one 20F nomad bag out of the back stock, but at the same time I found the same bag in the stock behind the hanging bag display.

The ALPS tent also looks very sweet--for a one man tent, it's only slightly smaller than the HT 2 and has a gear loft, while the HT 2 just has a couple of pockets. If the Chalet had that in stock at that $100 price, I would have nabbed that instead!
