That is a good ratio, gives you a 93.6" 52 x 15, plenty big enough for most who don't have big big gear lust.

Agreed. I'm trying hard not to buy one. How did you come into these, Zach?

You know. Just having my eyes open for old stuff. I can fit a couple of them in a flat rate box, so 46.00 if you wanted 2.

...and I failed. I'm curious to see how I'll like this as opposed to the 5-speed SunRace 14-28 I currently have on my Premio. The SunRace has the range I like and the cog teeth I expect in a freewheel, but it's noisy as all get out, even after pumping it full of oil. I'm sure the SunTour is much better quality, and by switching from a 42T to 39T inner chainring, I can get back most of the low range.

    Thanks.

    Doh! A little slow.

If there are any left, I'll take one. If not, no worries.

I still have plenty of them. Send me a PM if interested. I would prefer to ship in the US only.

I had forgotten that they made those. Would love one, but can't justify the expence at the moment.

Hi Zach I just sent a payment for one. Looks like I will soon have a real "10spd"

Just a thought... with a 42/52 do you end up with any duplicates? I can't there would be but I was never real keen on figuring gear inches.

42/17 and 52/21 are almost exactly the same; quite a bit of duplication, really, you'd be much better off with a 39-tooth inner ring:

42/52 on the left 39/52 on the right
'71 Raleigh Super Course ("Loose Change")
    '74 Raleigh Professional
'7? VeloSolex L'Etoile rando build ("Chocolate Star")
    '77 Peugeot UE/O-8/10/9 mongrel

    '87 Trek 560 Pro Series
    '88 Schwinn Impact ("Burning Chrome")
    '92 Specialized Allez Comp
'08 Specialized Crossroads winterbike ("Icicle the Bicycle")

OH thats just great! Now I'll have a custom built 8spd bike with Super Record Fabulous!

Thansk for posting Captn. I've never been a big spinner (just too dumb to learn I guess) so I have never been a but 39 fan. I'll think of something though, that is the nice about bikes you can always change it. Maybe another halfstepish thing......
