Coolest Colnago ever?

Well...depending on style preferences!

(Could it qualify for the most expensive Colnago ever, too?)

yeah these were made at the height of the fixed gear craze combined with the blow up of street art as a massively marketable new art. Street artist were suddenly being "discovered". That this costs that much is ridiculous. I don't mean to belittle the artist but it is just polka dots. bit deal.. it is a production frame and it's not like he painted it. he just came up with the concept. So yeah definitely not the coolest. I think the popes colnago was way cooler.

I would never pay $14K for that bike...the frame's too big for me.

Bikes: Casati, Look, Torelli, Ridley, and a bunch of steel bikes from the 80s and the 90s..

How bout those gold ones from the early 80s? Way over the top, but cool.

Cool frame I don't get it though none race geometry and Fixie style paint for $14,000. I can't wrap my head around this $14,000 for a fixie frame.

Bikes: Colnago (82, 85, 89, 90, 91, 96, 03), 85 Cinelli, 90 Rossin, 83 Alan, 82 Bianchi, 78 Fountain, 2 x Pinarello, Malvern Star (37), Hillman (70's), 80's Beretto Lo-Pro Track, 80's Kenevans Lo-Pro, Columbus Max (95), DeGrandi (80's) Track.

I think the owner needed all those little round price tags on the frame to fit that huge asking price.

The Arabesque is my favourite Colnago frame - this week anyway.

There is a guy in Vancouver who uses a gold Pope special edition as his DAILY rider. I saw him on it yesterday. Not all original anymore because stuff wears out when you ride it often. It is not a garage queen at all. Very cool bike.

Always one of my favs as well Gary.

Actually though, you own one of my all time favorite Colnago frames.

DD has another one.

I think you know, or could guess which one Gary!

Thanks gomango - I do know the one you like - sometimes I give it a clean-up and then place it in a position where I can just look at it as I go about other things. I also agree that DD has a couple of Colnago's I would love to own. His orange Colnago is an all time favourite.

Hmm, one white Colnago track frame plus colored dot stickers from the Dollar Store, plus clear coat = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Though mom always told me that if you don't have anything nice to say...

I think it's ugly. Hope I don't offend anyone here but, as always, there's no accounting for taste. Mine included.

I'm old fashioned I guess. Rather have 3 or 5 1970's bikes for that price.

Actually I think for this price you could get 50 or so decent 70's bikes.

Futura 2000 was hardly being discovered, he has been having shows with established galleries since the early 80's along with Keith Haring and Kenny Scharf.

It doesn't matter if he painted it personally, just ask Jeff Koons.

These bikes were about $5,000 when they were released and I have been seeing them for between $3,000 and $6,000 ever since, this one is an anomaly and I doubt it will do much except get people talking.

Seriously, I think it's just a publicity stunt for the PROS Closet. A good way of getting bike enthusiasts talking about the business. If it doesn't sell - so what - if it sells all the better.

Thanks for extra info. You were right to make that clarification as I admit I do not have much knowledge about street art culture. But I would say that to my as a layman and outsider it seemed street was experiencing heightened popularity in the 2000s.

You are correct, the "collab" scene really exploded in the the 2000's, every brand under the sun hooking up with a street art darling.

On a side note, I see you are in the Yukon now, panning for gold?

Of course, it depends on the bikes. I'd rather have 5 great ones than 50 mediocre ones.

This bike was done in collaboration with a bike shop here in Toronto, they had these crazy exclusive colorways which are gorgeous.

here are the two colors:
