How about a bumped post icon?
Over in the Mechanics forum, we regularly get old posts dredged out of the past by noobs doing a search for their problem...
And it kinda makes sense to bump an old post to add more info to it rather than start a fresh thread. Problem is, the tendency is to completely fail to notice the posting date (it's not just me, it happens to most folks), and we often find ourselves re-reading a post we already donated our time to answering three years ago or whatever. When you're offering your experience and expertise for nix, it's pretty annoying to have your time wasted like that...
Another forum I used to hang out on had an icon pop up on any thread title that was bumped after three months of inactivity... I'm not sure if such a thing is an option in this board's software, but if not I'm pretty sure there'd be a little third-party patch for vBulletin to do this.

I can look into it, but I can tell you that third party patches can slow the boards down, and such. I don't believe vB has a native function like you describe, though.

Cheers
I'd hope such a simple mod wouldn't incur any overhead to speak of; a tiny script and a little icon should have a negligible impact, right?

they add up, though and we already run a great deal of custom code, like antibot software, etc, that burns a great deal of bandwidth.
