Raleigh 5 Speed
Hello,
I recently picked up a Raleigh 5 Speed that was converted into a cruiser.
Two questions, can anyone help me in finding a serial number to get an idea on the year of production.
And would converting back to a 5 Speed be too daunting of a task?
Thanks

Depending on which factory made it and when, there are several possible serial number locations including the bottom of the bottom bracket shell, outside ofthe non-drive side rear dropout , top or side of seat lug, rear top of seat tube and brake bridge plate.

Bikes: A green one, "Ragleigh," or something.
Those are some very small pictures. But if you don't like the bike the way it is now, don't spend another nickel on it. However, if you find a free Raleigh 5-speed all trashed and rusted, but with good compatible parts to transfer that would be swell. But buying a frame and then getting new parts for it is crazy expensive for what you end up with, and pretty much never worth it, unless you're an eccentric millionaire trying to re-create a 'Rosebud' from your youth.
Try to sell it for $10 more than you bought it and start over. In the future, try not to buy bikes that you don't like/can't use/won't ride.
