While originally intending to get a singlegear, I rode a Trek 7.2 at a LBS and liked how it felt enough to want to get something similar even though I will be moving to St. Louis which is almost completely flat in the city. That bike is being sold for $550 (with no budge room ) and I'm wanting to spend less than that if any way possible. After an extensive search I'm leaning pretty heavily towards a Misceo 2.0 because I can get it for cheaper than other bikes of the same component range from REI because of their membership program. It and the Cannondale Quick 6 also look the best, IMO. The only issue I am having is that the tires are 700x38c. Which, after some additional research, seem like they are going to be much too wide for my use. I will be on flat city streets or paved paths for about 99% of the time for at least 2 years. The Misceo I would be getting for $450 from REI while the Cannondale (with 700x32c tires) retails for $510 (and REI doesn't carry it). It's also a slight step down (7-speed instead of 8 and Mini-V brakes instead of disc). I don't think those differences will affect me because of how I will be riding the bike, but the tires seem like they will.
Also, how much do tires and rims affect the weight of the bike? I read on a thread here that the Misceo 2.0 weighs 29lbs which is pretty heavy for what I will be using it for. I can't seem find out what the Cannondale weighs though, sadly.
