********Attn C&A: BF Blood Drive********

So, given my recent need for blood An 11 BAG TRANSFUSION), I thought, "Why not a blood drive?

It's an easy process. Start here: https://www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood

There is always an ongoing need for all blood types. Ironically type O Pos, the most common is also the most needed. Next is the AB group, especially neg. It doesn't matter, though, whatever the type you have, they need it.

International Users:

EU: https://ec.europa.eu/health/blood_tis...r/index_en.htm
Canada: https://www.blood.ca/centreapps/inter...e?opendocument

Or do a net search for your country

Let's see how much we can give them.

bump

I'm having emergency vascular surgery in the AM as son as they have my blood chemistry right and will be getting t least another few bags of blood and plasma overnight. I had a stroke and heart issue hit me the 16th of last month and have been in the hospital since then, in the ICU.

I can't either because I lived in the land of Mad Cows for a while in the early 80s.

Hope you get better!! I also can no longer donate. I had a positive test for Heptitus. I have been checked and I don't have it but the screening test the Blood Center uses gives a positive. I actually enjoyed giving blood too!!

Amazing how many of us can't donate. No wonder there's such a shortage. I'm ineligible for 5 years due to my cancer and chemo. Once that 5 year mark hits, though, I'll be donating as much as they'll let me.

Trips to China, Mexico, in addition to a cardio-med cocktail disqualify me too. I am a member of Red Crosses 2 gallon Club. Still have the pin. Those who can, please do. It's almost painless, and you get cookies. (Maybe we could lobby for pie)

Good thinking. I'm always up for donating blood and of course I don't do it as often as I should.

I donate here often https://www.lstream.org/ It's close to me and they use the donations locally in San Bernardino and Riverside counties (SoCal).

I'll be there Monday and thinking of you while I donate. Heal up quick!

Accomplishments today:

1) I GOT OUT OF BED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

2) I didn't have to use a bedpan for the first time in a bit over 10 days......, and actually used the toilet.

3) I got in a 75 foot walk around the first hall tier out past the nurses station and my butt didn't hang out the back of the gown, even!

I may be released to home health care tomorrow. I'll know more tomorrow morning (Close to 50/50) and at the latest, Sunday or Monday for sure.

Already a donor Tom, Type B Positive in the Penn-Jersey Region of the ARC. It's been a few months so I'll set up an appointment (need to find a place in Wilmington since I moved here back in July).

Glad to here that you are up and about. Well a little about anyway. Here's hoping you get to go home. I've never had to stay in a hospital but I don't think that I'd like it!!

Well, I just got stepped down from ICU to regular floor. This is definite progress, I'm pleased to say.

Oh, and the blood donation drive both here and via FB has topped a quarter million donations out of the world's total population.

Tom: best wishes for your recovery! I used to donate regularly until BSE was identified; since I lived in England for a year in the late 80s, I'm now disqualified. I encourage others to donate, though.

I will donate next time I am eligible. O+. I have to go to China on occasion, and they only disqualify me for 2 years due to Malaria risk. If they only knew how much DEET I use. I hope you do well.
