The Garmin VIRB has created some excitement, for good reason, it's a nice cam.
The handlebar mount, not so. I was descending Yerba Buena Road in the Santa Monica Mountains and the Garmin handlebar mount broke, sending the camera bouncing down the road.
I sent Garmin a link to a picture of the broken mount and asked for a warranty replacement. They refused.
I feel that a mount for a bicycle should be able to stand up to the rigors that an avid cyclist will put it through. My entire frame and all the the bike's accessories stand up to that descent all the time. A camera accessory made for that environment should also, that's what I think.
So, if you have a VIRB on one of these mounts, stay on tame roads and keep the speed down.
I'm trying to paste a link to the picture of my mount below, hope it works.
BTW, the camera itself miraculously escaped with only minor cosmetic damage.
