From Tahoe City to the top of Mt. Rose and back. For a flatlander, it's a tough slog to the top but it's totally worth it. I went early Sunday morning and there was hardly any car traffic and I was the only bike on the road.

Saturday: Raced in the Masters 55+ at San Ardo. Got a flat at the beginning of the second lap and dropped out.
Sunday: Went out with my wife and younger daughter. Rode up to Los Altos from Cupertino, into Los Altos Hills, descended Page Mill from Altamont, Portola Valley, Woodside, and back via Sand Hill, etc. Hung out at Peet's.

Fairfield to West Sacramento and back. Just wanted to ride across the Yolo causeway. I'm taking a class in Sacramento, and everytime I drive across the causeway I envy the riders. Stopped in Davis at the park at East Corvello and F Street and had three gangbangers start looking at me out of the corner of their eyes and keep moving closer. I looked around and everyone else there(about 20 other people) had taken off when they showed up. I moved to the other side of the park to rest and they followed me, so I left. Is that a bad part of Davis? Ride was great otherwise.
Saturday, rode from Santa Clara up to Los Altos to catch the Alto Velo B ride which proceeded into Woodside, up Kings Mountain, south along Skyline, dipped down 84 then back up Old La Honda West, further south on Skyline, then down Page Mill Road, then home from there. My climbing legs were inexplicably good

Cool! Glad to hear it was not as bad as you were initially concerned about...I read that other thread and was wondering the same, I've driven there several times and thought it would be a cool bike ride.
Most of the week, I ride a road bike, but on Sundays, I've started mountain biking. This week, I went up Tam via Railroad Grade. The first time I went up Tam off-road a few weeks ago, I went up Eldridge Grade, which proved to be pretty challenging for a novice mountain-biker. Railroad was much easier, with a very gentle grade and a very smooth surface the whole way up.
Still, I was pretty hot and tired by the time I hit the West Point Inn, where a half dozen or so other cyclists were taking a break in the shade and enjoying a bite to eat. I thought about stopping there but decided I would just keep going to the top and get something to eat/drink at the snack shack at the East Peak visitor center. Unfortunately, when I finally made it there, the shack was closed. And the soda machine outside it was out of order. So it was just more lukewarm water from my Camelbak for me, until I made it back to Sausalito, where I stopped for a Coke before heading back to SF.
Typically, I've been seeing a lot of wildlife on these rides on the trails in the Headlands and Mt. Tam (a bobcat, a fox, a couple snakes, countless deer and rabbits) but this time, just a few lizards. I guess the bigger creatures, like the snack shop man, were taking the day off.
My usual ride consists of riding from Hiway 4 to San Ramon and looping back. Or San Ramon to Hiway 4 and looping back. Where ever I decide to put my truck..........
North side of the ARBT, and just west of the bridge that is west of Goethe Park.
That may not be the proper name of it, but the water fountain where I fill up says William Pond Park or something similar.
I was up in your neck of the woods on Monday. I rode from Auburn to Colfax.
Saturday: Garden Highway to the Sutter County line and back.
Sunday: Tri workout on the ARBT (for the record, I hate riding the dang bike path on weekend mornings, but some of our newbies aren't too comfortable on the road).
Monday: round and round the local elementary school playground with my son and his granddad.

The causeway is convenient, but I think it's my least favorite ride. Nasty air & noise from 80.
I kept it simple and went from Woodland to Winters and back on Saturday, 20 mile loop on Sunday. Just starting up again after a long break. Might be riding in Fairfield tomorrow depending on how the day goes...

This was my 3rd sizeable ride since I got my bike (Tour de Organics Sebastopol, to GGB and back and now this). Loving this. Too bad I go back in for second surgery to reconstruct my knee on Monday and will be off bike for maybe 6 months or more (only been into the sport since end of July).

Then, I climbed Bohlman and On Orbit, descended Montevina, climbed Black and Gist, descended Skyline and Bear Creek to Boulder Creek. From there, I took 236, Jamison Creek, and Empire Grade back home.
Monday, I rode to Corralitos. The market was closed for Labor Day. The sign at the bottom of Eureka Canyon saying road closed 10 miles was still there. Nonetheless, I rode up Eureka Canyon and Highland to the Summit Market and out of the fog and clouds. Then, I took Summit, Skyline, 9 and 236 to Big Basin, and returned home via Jamison Creek and Empire Grade.
Haven't ridden in Davis, but I can't imagine the noise from 80 on the causeway.
It's a roar, unless traffic is stopped on the causeway, or you're going by during one of the slower times. If you're riding hard, it's less noticeable, but with so many other quiet roads in Yolo County, I don't like riding the causeway. Glad I don't use it to commute...

East Livermore's wine country on Tesla and Greenville Rds., out to Old Altamont Pass Rd., up over Flynn Rd, to Patterson Pass, back down Cross Rd., to Tesla and home...approx 20 miles, not quite two hours on a sunny breezy mercifully cool late summer day...
