A funny thing happened to my Super Flash today. I placed my jacket int to the wash with the Super Flash in the jacket Pocket. I thought I checked

It would seem a full wash cycle is a testament that it's water proof enough
This is how it was when I pulled the jacket out of the wash. The light was on in steady state.
I opened up the unit and surprisingly there was very little moisture in the internal casing. There does not look to be any water under the red lens area. So I'll just let it air dry for now
Good Job Planet Bike, this light Kicks Butt! Now I just need to get rid of that white case

I'm going to stop by MEC today, I want to pick up a Planet Bike BTR 7, just for the black case. I need to swap out the white case on my Super Flash withthe BTR's black case, like Ghettocruiser's.

I've already broken two mounting clips (as in the one on the back of the unit) and have only one spare BRT-7 back left. I may need to redesign the mount with a bolt or something, to adjust for the fact that I am a hack.
I can't imagine any kind of riding that would be that bad for the light. Of course anything manufactured in the thousands will have a couple of bad apples. What this means to me, is that if your Superflash leaks try and get it replaced. The new one is not likely to leak.
Your recommendation to remove the batteries before washing the light is great! Do you recommend
"gentle" or "regular" wash cycle?

I went to MEC and picked up a Planet Bike BTR. The back is no longer black, rather a translucent Red... It's actually kind of cool.
I also stopped of at a cool commuting store where I picked up some Knog Frogs for $10 each. Seemed so cheap I had to buy them just because I'm a sucker for stuff like this. Ghetto, you are probably familiar with this store

I think your right regarding the leaking. As I know Planet Bike would take care of it for a person.
I think the Regular Cycle would do, seeing as that's how I washed my Super Flash

Humm, didn't notice that stuff in my bag..... I was tempted to pick up the NightHawk K2 Dual set for $190 however, that looked like a deal, although it was very heavy.
I'm not sure why I wanted it, other than I'm a sucker for stuff like this

Sorry, I didn't. It is a 2 level store, that feels much like Calgary's (if you have ever been there), except the bike stuff is upstairs. We were sitting on the couch upstairs and and my wife and daughter said it felt like we were in the Calgary store, until we stepped outside onto King Street instead of 10th ave

Ya know, I've never actually been into Urbane. I've been past it more times than I can count, but I'm either in a rush or the place is closed.
I have heard that MEC prohibits taking pictures in-store, for "competitive: purposes.... a policy they apparently borrowed from Wall-Mart. Seriously, they have hi-resolution pictures and prices of everything that they sell on line... next time I'm in there I need to ask them WTF is up with that.
MEC doesn't sell everything online, Vancouver's MEC has some Shimano road (Ultegra brifters and assorts) and mtb components, also SRAM XO Gripshifters and Derailleurs. They also have some PI stuff (gloves, booties, accessories) I have never seen sold online on their website. Oh and yeah, they do sell Garmin Edge 305 as well, don't see those on their website either.

Mine broke too. I have it secured now with a bit of epoxy and a pop rivet to reinforce the connection. This will get me through to next year when I need to upgrade
Indeed, MEC has a complete display case of unlisted stuff in the Toronto store. Although the impression I got was that the digicam prohibition had nothing to do with that. I need to ask them what the deal is next time I ghett down there, whenever that is, as I use my digi-cam daily as a subsitute for my lack of medium and long-term memory.
Recently my cellphone (Sanyo 4920) accidently went through a full wash (w/extra rinse cycle), rinse, and dryer cycle. I totally did not know the phone was in the wash as I was in a rush to get a relative of mine some stuff at the local store and put the cellphone in a fleece chest pocket. When I got home I put my laundry into the wash and included said fleece. I did not know the cellphone went through the wash and dryer till I was folding the clothes and wonder what this large lump was. As I opened the pocket I was shocked that the phone want through both cycles. I was amazed the li-ion battery did not blow up in the dryer as I changed the heat to 'medium' a day ago.
Some people suggested a website on how to save a cell phone. I've not even had this phone for a year yet (close to a year soon). I put the cellphone on top of the monitor for at least 72 hours before even attempting to power on. If the power on failed then you would add another 48 hours then try again. If it fails to power up the second time then the phone is pretty much dead. I was lucky the phone powered back up in 72hours and retained all data dispite going into the wash with the power on. I suspect the battery took damage as I have to charge it about every two days now and before I would charge it every 4-5 days.
Anyways, the story I have in relation to the OP incident is try drying it on top of the monitor.

No...? It's a nice little shop that caters to the commuters. I went to Racer Sportif (West Bloor) yesterday, holy high end Nice rides there. Surprisingly I have not found a hard core MTB store yet. Mine you I haven't been looking very hard, as there is so much to see and do.

I'm surprised the cell phones make it through the wash. Those are items that I hear don't survive very well immersed and powered up.
My niece spilled a coke on her notebook's keyboard once. I told her to power it down and take it back to the dealer to see if they would repair it. They said the warranty doesn't cover that type of damage, so they would do nothing for her. Seeing as there was nothing to lose, I disassembled the notebook, and soaked the keyboard, and mother board for a day in a shallow tray full of water to remove the Coke. I then let it dry for a few days and reassemble it. It's just like new again
