And then there was a whizz.

Well it happened. I got s... thrown at me while I was going home last night. Fortunately it did not hit me, but it went very close to my head as I heard a close whizzing noise and then it just hit the ground real hard. It was one of those 44 ounce drinks full of ice. Apparently it is hard to hit a moving target and luckily I was low on my drops.

I would have looked for a licence plate but that was the last thing on my mind at the time and keeping my calm was the priority # 1.

I kind of felt like David Spritz in the weather man.

Had that happen once -- the thrower was slinging trash from his car at me -- he was about the size/build/complexion of the convict in the Green Mile. I let him vent....

happened to me once too. I used to live in a rough area of England and I was out on a training ride at around 8pm in the dark and a banana skin hit me in the face...I was fast back then and I followed the cars taillights through built up areas for around 5 miles thanks to lights and roundabouts keeping me within sight. As they got out of their car on their driveway I sandwiched the driver between his door and the car with all 6'4" of me(it was winter and I was wrapped up so he couldn't tell I only weighed around 175!) and gave them a big piece of my mind, (I was actually ready to swing punches) they weren't so tough when they realised I'd chased them all that way and turned all apologetic when I mentioned that I now knew where they lived and they'd better watch their backs. That's the only way to get through to some of the people that lived around there. They couldn't apologise enough and said it was an accident so then i gave them ***** about littering! scum.

I wouldn't advise anyone to do what I did, especially over here where anyone can have a gun and I'm normally a gentle person, I wouldn't hit anyone unless my or someone else's life depended on it but it just got me so pissed.

If you have a cell phone with camera, snap a picture of the donkey of the car, with a nice visible image of the tag, also take a photograph of the nearest street sign. Once you calm down, kindly visit the local constabulary and file a complaint. Include the photographs.

Yeah you can yell at a driver, much more effective when a constable shows up at his door with a complaint. Even more so if it's not the first complaint.

Honestly though, I think that few of these kinds of morons actually intend to hit you, rather then having to go through the oh so hard work of stopping the car, dumping the unwanted ice and then putting the cup in a rubbish bin, they just chuck it out the window, you happen to be in the way.

Based on the thread title, I kept waiting for the part where you caught up with them and took a whiz on their car.

    Maybe next time...

They were going like 50mph with no lights ahead, but that's a nice thought, especially IN the car.

You definitely need to be careful depending on the situation. Even if I were able to catch up with the car (pick-up truck in my case), I'd stop short, because if someone offends you like that, they expect to be offended back so the reason is thrown out of window as well and the probability of unnecessary actions is greatly increased. Initially I kept my cool but come to think about it, it's like WTF kind of person does this... FPOS

I've had it happen to me, but not for some time. (Knocks on wooden desk...) The only time I was hit by anything, it was eggs. Is this a great country, or what? Some "thugs in training" can afford to buy food, and throw it at people they just don't like. Isn't it great?

My most humorous incident involved a Dunkin Donuts cup of coffee. It was a windy, cold April morning, and this Jackarse leaned out the window of a passing Honda. He yelled something that indicated his obviously superior IQ, and hurled the contents of a large Dunkin Donuts cup at me. Well, the coffee made a lovely arc, and splattered all over the passenger side of the honda. Then, Mr. Harvard Phd just looked really PO'ed, and slid back into the Honda, which went speeding off in a cloud of oily exhaust.

I think you're right that it must be hard to hit a moving target from a moving vehicle, as I've had stuff thrown at me many times but haven't been struck yet.

Wasn't there a scene in the movie "American Fliers" where one brother tucked a banana skin into the others shorts?

And what about the horses ass who throws an egg out of their car and it hits you? They didn't mean that, "wrong place, wrong time" again?

I take tea, sugar, no cream or milk.

Wasn't there a thread about two NYC cabbies (one automobile one pedicab) who got into a fight after a cup of coffee was thrown?

No there, anyone can have a gun, its just already established that if they do, they don't follow the law. And since they chuck things at cyclists from autos, they have demonstrated less willingness to conform to general societal rules.

Here, anyone can have a gun and still follow the law (in most, not all, states.)
