going against the grain here: I stopped using cyclocomputers in 09. It's not that I'm against them; I just don't care enough. Teh crappy cateye on my road bike broke and I didn't bother replacing it.
i hate to play the stereotypical training obsessed racer card here but all i rly cares about is time and effort, so an HRM and a stopwatch does the trick for me. Maybs one day I will buy a powermeter and have all sorts of other data along with it.
besides, i feel like every time I looked down at the speed display while riding it just said TOO SLOW in big bold letters on the display

oh, and I bought a longer stem for my new Blue loaner team rig. I was too scrunched up on it so I bought a 120. these were on sale for $20:

the carbon bars that it came wit weren't working out either so I threw some 40cm rotundo pros on there.

lol ikr?
these days I only even really use the HRM+stopwatch combo to pace myself during a long solo ride, a tempo ride or threshold intervals, all of which is a little less than half of my total riding.
at this point in the game I can tell what my HR is within a few beats based on feel anyway
group rides, races or just IDGAF rides don't really warrant any of that jive.
zen all teh way

This is true; however, the reason why I (and many others) bought my Edge 500 was because it's nice to have for training on a road bike.

Back to reality: don't; their forecast IMO is bad b/c smart phones are steadily replacing standalone GPS's and the cycling/ sport community alone is not enough to support a multinational corporation that has a large majority of its sales on consumer hardware. I think you should listen to me considering I get paid to teach stuff like this.
As a consolation, do look into facebook's IPO; just' sayin.

Facebook doesn't have ways to make money. No profits from the mobile app (and no idea how to make any) + a large amount of income from Zynga.

True, true. I can't help but wonder if there's gonna be a mass migration from Facebook to some other social media platform (like myspace to Facebook).

Your privacy is not just going for ads. They know nearly everything about you and it's for sale.

Why?
Your body doesn't have an odometer and can't tell the difference between an hour with a tailwind and an hour into a headwind or climbing at the same intensity.

Because I like to see my progression over the season. I literally start practice Monday and I will be riding 4-5 days a week for the next couple of months. With something like the Edge 500 I can also view routes and be able to mix them up on the weekends; I hate having to ride the same route every time.

It is nice to know though. I still find myself google maps'ing something every few weeks or so.
Also have fun this season
