Can anyone tell where I can find mounts that will fit on the side of my truck bed that will hold my bike up? I cannot remove wheels easily to use wheel mounts. Thanks,

A friend has one of these on his Tacoma and it works amazingly well. You can throw 4 DH bikes in there with ease, and they're rock solid in terms of stability.
Saves bed space too.

Oh for pitty's sake. Two motorcycle tiedowns, run the front tire into the corner of the bed, lash it down and call it good . Has worked for dirt bikes for decades. What is this penchant for all these expensive gizmos to do such a simple chore? I don't get it.

I have the sportworks rack shown in the first reply. I like it. However, the rack does not fit the larger wheels on my cross bike- so if you have a 29" MTB or a cross bike, I would not recommend it. Road bike wheels work ok.

I have RecRac's and love them. My road bike is light enough that I only need to use one of the (they come with 2) so I double the useage. However, if you have a bed liner, sometimes it's hard to secure them correctly and the bed liner under the bed rail may need to be cut out. I have a bed liner but my husband is able to muscle them in nice and secure without cutting away the liner. I wouldn't recommend the plastic "add a 2nd bike" adaptors. Used them 1 time and they broke, also didn't really secure the 2nd bike very well at all. Other than the adaptors, they work great for me. No removing tires, just putting the bikes in and going. Only works for a max of 2 bikes (without adapters) though.

Honest question from a newb. Why can't you just lay the bike down in the bed? Will this cause damage?

I just don't lay them down to avoid scratching the bike. ;-)

Bigger reason though is that I used to ride with another person, and laying one bike on top of another would always be a mess to make sure pedals didn't catchi in cables and handlebars didn't catch on anything and that neither bike was laying on a der. hangar or a disc rotor...

I carry mine like this, cheap and it keeps the bikes from getting banged up.

Usually not if you lay it down right. That's why I like MC tiedowns, though - -very simple, very economical. There's alot of very inventive mfrs working hard to part you and your money. You have the whole pickup bed to work with, why make it complicated?

The one drawback to either is they're for situations where you don't need to lock it up.

I have been looking for a rack like yours. What company makes it? I remember seeing one in the mid nineties, but haven't been able to find one lately. I would like to still use the bed of my P/U for other gear. I currently use traps racks, but am looking to use something else.
