Rarity in itself doesn't mean anything. It's rarity versus demand that's meaningful. I could get weld up my own bike and have absolutely one-of-a-kind world's-rarest bike, but that wouldn't make it valuable. Even if there's only 50 bikes like it, if there's only 49 people that want one, that 50th is going out by the road.

Of course - but it is one of many ways to take this fellow's statements and make him look stupid (not that he isn't already).
