bicycle dynamo power

does anybody use a bicycle dynamo for something other than powering lights? i have a 12 volt 6 watt bottle dynamo on my bike that i don't use. i already have front & rear lights powered by a front hub dynamo & i would like to use the other dynamo for something else. can you charge cell phones? charge batteries? power radios? does anybody here do anything like this? how about some suggestions...

Before you try that check how the voltage varies with speed. If the voltage goes above 13.5 V, it may damage anything that is supposed to be charged at 12 V. You would then have to install a voltage regulating circuit.

Someone is already selling a cell phone charger for a dynamo. There are a few things out there. Google your ideas to see what's being done.

Most modern dynamos these days have a diode which bleeds off excess voltage if overrun. If not you can buy and fit for little cost.
