Discosaurus, you need new pedals!
I put my Performance Campus pedals on this weekend (they're knockoffs of the Shimano 324's, metal "regular"-type on one side, clipless on the other). WOW just the metal "regular" surface was soooo much better than those rubber junk stock Giant pedals! Even DRY I had better traction, my shoe didn't slip around at all. This is with normal sneakers.
Now I just need my performance coupons to arrive so I can buy a pair of clipless shoes and give the other side of the pedals a try...

Wow, I just looked those up and they look like exactly what I'm looking for! It feels sacreligious to have non-clipless pedals on my shiny new bike, but I didn't want to have to bring an extra pair of shoes to work with me. These look like they'll fit both purposes perfectly, and for less money than "real" clipless pedals.
Nice!

I dunno what your workplace is like Crash, but I just started leaving a pair of shoes at work. That way I can commute in my sneakers (or eventually go clipless) without having to worry about carrying or messing up my work shoes.

Wow, I should really try those. I was going to follow the advice of another poster and get the Performance ATB Comp pedals, but these can go clipless when/if I'm ready for that. Or they take toe clips if I want to go there first. Thanks for the link! I'm definitely getting these instead. If only pay day would come more quickly!

I've been riding these for a while and I like them just fine. I had a pair of clipless Van's from my BMX racing days that are still in great shape, so it works out well. Better yet I got the pedals back in December for under $20.

The ones I have, I bought from Dan's, they are the Exacerbate model, which seem to be a current shoe still.
Edit that: They aren't on clearance from Dan's that I see, but they also don't appear to be current according to the Vans web site.

The Performance Campus pedals were $50 for the pair, NOT on sale. I suspect if payday doesn't get here soon enough, perhaps a sale will. Performance seems to have a constantly rotating sale that varies in amount (10%, 20%, etc).

Ha Ha Jeff! I got mine in the off season. Paid a little more for the pair I bought my wife though. They are currently shown on the web site as being on sale for $29.98, and our store here in Manassas price matches any sale the company is having without any problem.

Aaack! Darnit!! If I'd waited a couple days I could have saved $20! I checked the web site before I bought them and at that time they were not on sale. Grumble grumble grumble.
