Glad to see I'm not the only person getting the little guys out of the way.... so far this year I've 'rescued' one adult (4') copperhead and one baby (8") copperhead...

Big pat on the back to you, Sir.

Done so many Black Rat snakes and turtles I can't count 'em.

One Black Bear sighting this year.

Half Dozen wild Turkey, Bunches of deer, ducks, geese, etc.

My wife/Stoker, on the other hand, says the view never changes...

Btw, all this, or most of it anyway, on the New River Trail in SW Virginia.

I saw a smoother back road into town than the main one I usually take. Too many stop signs though, so I think I'll just stick with old bumpy for now. Just gotta get my butt up outta the seat for that part.

I saw a squashed tortoise. Big one, must have been a hundred years old. I also saw an otter (alive) running across the road.

Just how badly we, the invaders, messed up Hawaii. Hawaii was stolen from the Hawaiians, and I always knew that, but the more I ride around the island, the more regrettable things I see: tent villages on the Waianae Coast, Makua Valley, H-3, all of Honolulu, the messed up waters of Kahana Bay, and pretty much anything else I can can name. There's so much gone of old Hawaii its amazing we still flogg it as a "tourist destination."
But, oh yeah, tons of hot surfer chicks on the North Shore and even hotter townie chicks in Kailua. Hotties hooting at me from cars after I passed them cause Kamehameha Highway is the slowest road on the island. Picinics all over the place.

Dead skunk in the bike lane. Too much auto traffic so I could not veer around and miss the poor devil. Or am I the poor devil now?

Today, I saw this big assed Galapagos Island-looking turtle hanging out on a huge rock in the Potomac River just sunning himself. It was cool.

Three Mini Coopers, one after the other, out for a holiday drive. Also saw 4 other cyclists, 3 of whom waved back when I waved, but the fourth completely ignored me.

Guys...

I live in Fort Lauderdale. Our rides down here are along the stretch of beach. The views are nothing short of amazing...especially the butt floss on the beach (if you need explanation here, I feel your pain). Sometimes, if you're lucky, you get on the wheel of a steel-legged beauty and admire the scenery.

Had a great ride today. It was 90 + but i was riding and didn't care.
Saw several deer and lots of rabbits today.
Didn't see any bikers out which is unusual.
Saw the storm cloud roll in and that was my race home.
Couple out grilling hot dogs and burgers - I was tempted to stop.
My neighbor followed me part of the way home to make sure I didn't get caught by the thunderstorm. He is overprotective for sure. I am 20 years his ago if a day.
Saw a guy in a golf cart with three labs. That was cute.
Best part of the ride - My favorite rode was just newly blacktoped today. It was smooth and fast. 5 miles of pure silk. All I could hear was the hum of my drive train (which aint much). I'll go back in the morning and do that again.

Kids out playing at recess. Runners sweating buckets. A way too CLOSE UP view of a trailer full of lawn mowing equipment ... I almost ran right into him when he pulled over and slowed down to stop w/ no signal (in the only lane of the road). Lake Michigan, rocks and the one thing I didn't see was that huge pothole that almost removed me from the bike. Yay for clipless.

Seriously, my dad was on my tail for a little then I really wanted to test him so I upped the pace from like 19-24 and all see was him going off. Its kind of a good feeling. Even though he rides alot just wont, ride hard. I dont think he understands that pain is part of it.

Did 106 miles yesterday with 62 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Saw snow at 6000 ft, many waterfalls, wildflowers and the rhododendrons were in peak bloom.

Scandinavian Moose ( Pic ), quite majesticif a bit smaller than the alaskan.
Eurasian Eagle Owl ( Info and Pic This is a very big forest-bird, not shy but nests in dead old trees so you only find it deep in the forest.
Mink ( Info and pic ), probably escaped from a farm, lots of those here.

Also more Mountain Hare (Leupus Timidus) and Brown Hare (Leupus Europaeus)than I could count, and a Raven. No hotties or other bikers, I ride mostly at night.

A coyote. A quail. A pheasant. Hundreds of butterflies.

And I ran over a little lizard, didn't see him in time.

Yesterday I had a deer walk across the trail, a cat that wouldn’t move from the middle of the trail, long horned cattle, sheep, goats, lamas, lots of birds,

Best of all; a family of 5 (including parents) riding in good form youngest child was maybe 4 and the oldest was maybe 12.
