Thousands of cyclists rode today and weren't hit by a car or murdered and dragged off in the woods. There! I said it. I needed an antidote for all of the awful stories floating around these forums. Holy crap, i think it might be safer to be an American in Iraq than a cyclist in America, based on all of these stories!

I'm glad you feel better.
I think the reason the bad stories are posted, is just to bring awareness.
Yours, I must admit is the first post to announce nothing happened. Reminds me of a Carlin news skit.

I can understand how it scares a newbie, and yes even a seasoned rider will think about it a bit. But, the latter will get on that bike and ride no matter what. Except maybe in California, I draw the line at riding with mountain lions.
I hate the new Ford commercial, mtn. biker slides comes off his bike, bike plumets off 50ft cliff, to be barely missed by Ford vehicle. Yah, that'll get more mtn. riders. WTF!
