Putting Slime, (a tire sealant), in the tube to prevent leaks from small punctures. They also sell tubes with slime already in them.
Slime is a brand name of sealant but there are others.

I’ve only had problems when I added slim to my tubes. First off, it never prevented my flats, even the smallest thorns gave me problems. Second, once a flat occurred the slim leaked everywhere (not a major problem mind you, but it still caused me to clean my rims.)

We use a product in the store called True Goo. Coupled with a semi descent tire liner, we give a gurantee of 1 year with no flats. If you do then yu get a tube for free. So far we have not gotten anyone back in. Yes it adds weight but.....
