Can't seem to find any infos on Iron Horse's website (too crappy? )

Got it brand new for US$200 (price in ad is CAD$)

Did I make a bad purshase? LBS around here carry bikes out of my budget range and department stores...

looks like you paid for just a decent frame. you can change out those fugly chainrings, pedals and cranks, and a better fork and you got a nice little ride goin.

It's pretty much a comfort bike, or transportation. I'm not one to look down on other people's bikes, as we're all on some sort of budget, but that one's not really appropriate for much in the way of "Off road" use. DO you feel like you got a deal? Raiyn will ask you why you're asking now, after you bought it.

I would return it, save $150 and buy a much better bike. Just my opinion though.

Depending on how you're going to use it, it might be a fine bike for you.

Ironhorse are (I think) an ok make and this appears to be from the low end of their range. Hence as somebody said above - good frame average/bad bits hanging off of it (Forks - Wheels etc). As a light-use cross country bike it will suit you fine. Ride it too death and only replace things as they fail - its not worth uprading that bike - and when you have a better idea of what you expect from a bike and have saved up the pennies you could get anew bike. Of course if that bike is what you want and you don't require anything more then if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I will upgrade the components as time goes
No plan for off-road use, perhaps I should have picked the hybrid Adventure for CAD$50 more

That's funny, the bike only costs fifty bucks more than some inline skates. I think that answers your original question, no?

As long as you don't have high expectations, you should be fine. Enjoy.

Just replace the knobby tyres. CAD$30 will score you some cheap IRC Metro or Tioga City Slicker knockoffs that will make the ride nicer for just pavement use. I put some on my wife's bike. They're made by Kenda. I picked the 26x1.25 size.

I will see if I can find such The tires on are currently 26x1.95, no problem if I stick 1.25 on it?
Do I have to change the rims? Sorry if I ask stupid questions

No but you might be better to stick a smaller tube on. If you fully inflate a 1.95 inner in 1.25 tyres - you will have a major problem

Reminds me of that photo on Pinkbike; the guy put a 2.3 tire on with a 2.5/2.7 tube, and went on a DH course.

If it was me, I would change out saddles and take off the stupid plastic guard on the front chain ring. It looks Pretty good. I wouldent use it for anything other than city riding, or some trail riding.

Those inline skates are made by K2. My wife & I both have the K2 Catalyst models, and they're so fast we can barely wear them. They come with a warning statement about their speed. I never thought a good quality brand could make such a difference, but the same holds true with mtn.bike's too, huh?

The frame, stem, bars, and levers/shifters look half decent. The front derailer, rear derailer, crank and fork are no good really, but they will serve their purpose for road riding (and by that I mean comuting not urban usualt/stair gaps ect.)

I never understood that. Why the **** do people ask for advice AFTER they make a purchase?

It's like closing the barn door after the horse escaped. No real point in it.

I think it's more for personal interest than anything else. This way, they'll know if they should feel buyer's remorse!

Update, I think those Joytech hubs aren't sealed
My brother went back after a 3 days trip off paved roads (170km) he bring it back all dirty...
While I was cleaning and lubing the parts I noticed the bearings seems to be shrugging
Btw, I had at least 300km on it before I lend it to him

Should I get myself a cone wrench and some grease to see if I can "fix" it/see the damages or should I look for new parts?

I bought an Ironhorse Outlaw at the local Sports Authority, looks like about the same specs. I took of the plastic guard on the chain ring, swapped the saddle, put some egg beater c pedals on, and some 1.95" road tires. I ride it in town only, around the local industrial park loop...no traffic in the early evenings. I would never take it off road. I think I finaly wore out the rear hub, it really started wobbleing. Moved my wheelset off my Haro V2 over to the Ironhorse and replaced the ones off the Haro with some disc specific wheels. Other than the read hub problem, it has been ok.

I brought my bike to its sport "department" store (Sports Experts, yes it's not an LBS ), they'll repack them for free if it's not my fault
Will pickup my bike tomorrow after-noon and see how it goes

anyway... That looks like a good bike, but like mentioned, don't expect it to be the ultimate bike in any category.
