Palos Forest Preserve, IL - Trails

Gonna visit Palos for the first time tomorrow. I'm looking for recommendations for the best ride on those trails.

I found this picture, and figured I'd do the Orange loop clockwise, then counter clockwise. Anyone done it? Fun?

Tomorrow might not be the best day for your first visit to Palos. It rained today and it is supposed to rain tomorrow again so the trails might be too wet for riding. You might want to check cambr.org before heading there. The orange loop is a nice ride. Clockwise you will have more of a climb (for IL) but it is a fun trail in both directions. You might also enjoy the short black loop ("the out and back") to warm up before heading to the orange loop.

Awesome some fellow Palos riders. Just did trail building work with CAMBR yesterday.
But yeah they are all awesome trails, but because of the rain, if your set on going, don't expect to ride the single track. If its wet stay on the gravel multi-track. Dont ruin the trails!

You should check out CAMBR. They have trail workdays twice a month. Its quite fun. Everyone there is real nice and you can work as hard,or not, as you want, hopefully the former.
The dates are listed on the site CAMBR.ORG. You just show up with a printed up waiver and your set, if your not sure where to meet i'll help you figure it out.

If you're from Chicago, check out these trails:

https://outbacktrail.org

I know several Chicagoans who prefer riding on the Outback to Palos Heights.

Thanks for the ride tips. After all the rain yesterday, I decided to save the trip to Palos for another weekend. Hopefully, some consistent sunshine will dry everything up.

I refuse to ride on wet trails. Not only does it mess up the trails, but it's a pain in the ass to clean the bike afterwards.

Cool, i should check those out. How are they? Whats difficult about the difficult trails? Is it really technical or more so physically challenging?
