Wanna go for a ride with some PNWers on Saturday?

Myself and @Wildwood are planning on riding around Lake Sammamish Saturday. We will meet at the Marymoor Park Velodrome parking lot (don't forget to bring your $1 parking fee) at 1100 and would like to be on the road by 1115. Weather is supposed to be dry and in the mid-50s.

PM if you need more details. If everyone is also up for some grub afterwards, let me know on the thread - that way we'll know well in advance and can agree on a place before we even head off 'round the lake.

I'm working and I'm 80 miles away. Also, Prepping for a party at my place that night; cooking at work, since it's a slow day there and I have a kitchen handy

You're all invited, BTW. Bring beer.

I like it. It'll be dry but I suspect half the route will be wet due to the rain stopping the night before and the ground being in the shade. Still, I'll chance it with a no-fender bike, because all of them are looking very forlornly at me right now. I'm trying to kick a wacky illness I've had for the last week or so (not a cold or flu thing, just weird), so I'll be a game-time decision, at least looking at it right now. Haven't had my Masi out for a group ride of any sort--may have to take that!

Can't we just get along with Portlandians and enjoy a dry mid-50s weekend in Jan - on our bicycles....

... and be glad that, at least for this weekend,
we are Northwesternmost cyclists,
and not Northeasternmost/Mid-Westerner cyclists.

Stop for lunch at the same time, and use Facetime to pretend we're riding together.

Two or a dozen - makes no difference to me. I didn't even know we had a competition going with those south of us

This weekend provides a nice and dry, not-too-cold window; Stuart dropped me a line about a ride and, me being a guy who loves to share the suffering, thought of y'all. Although Tim's party sounds fun, too...

Anyhoo, if you can make it - great! If not, not a problem. If it stays dry we should have a nice little ride. I'm planning on the roads being a little wet, so I'm bringing the Medici on this one. I might even hose it down immediately afterwards instead of waiting for a week, or two, or three...

All you Portland riders be safe and enjoy your ride, too

I, too, expect residual moisture to be present on the tarmac, however, please ignore that and bring the Masi so we can gawk

Depending upon when you guys will be riding, we'll be "riding together" in a sense, right?

Btw, getting back to school has been my big priority and will continue to be for at least my first quarter. Lots of stuff to learn, in particular completely different work submission documents and systems with which I have no experience. So don't worry if I drop off the map for a little while. I'll still lurk and contribute when I can; school, however, simply has to come first.

After all, y'all are paying for it and I'd like to ensure you get your money's worth

Thanks!

I'm in! Either my cross bike, which I'm trying to get the fit worked out on, or my cannondale which I know fits.

Thank you! White tape is all cleaned, and Criterium bars are installed. I will do my best, but whatever has been dogging me for over a week doesn't seem to be easing up.

I'm about 50% for making it. I will most likely be riding with my son on the tandem.

I posted on the Portland thread, but this is much closer to home.

If folks are worried about the hazards of wet roads.....

It is possible to ride south on East Lake Sam Rd and then return on same.
Wider shoulders, better pavement and more open so theoretically less wet than the West Lk Sam Rd.

edit - shoulder/bike lane on E Lk Sam can accommodate 2 abreast riding in many parts for those who wish to chat. Also the trail option for those who avoid public roads where an alternative exists.

If You’re interested in something different, a loop of the north end of Lake Washington is mostly MUP and the bike lane is now open across the 520 bridge. It’s about 34 miles with a couple hills.

You can also go up 43rd or something of the like, and get some climbing in, if that's your flavor.
