Can you be a little more specific? What kind of riding? Can you drop any brands? Same brands just the difference of disc or not?

Throw the stick!!!!
What kind of riding do you do? Do you ride the trails primarily when it is dry? Do you do a lot of riding in the mud?
If you don't ride aggressive, wet trails then disc brakes are not really needed. If you just ride primarily flat land when it's dry then the vee's are your best bet.
Also, please don't use the aol lingo. Use complete words and sentences, you will get a lot more replies that way.

Wow meteor2001, you better not let Raiyn see how you spelled that topic, he is gonna rip you a new a$$hole.
But considering you are 15 years old, talking like a 12 year old AOL user is acceptable.

To answer your question, it depends on the rider, the riding and the type of bike.

Tough room.
Meteor2001, I would say that your chances of speaking to a "pro" is somewhat limited. What kind of "pro" were you looking for? Are you interested in soliciting expertise from a racing pro, a bike shop pro, a pro mechanic?
Regardless, I would suggest that you steer towards the rim style of brake. I say this mostly because you would more than likely know if you needed a speciality brake system (disk brakes.)
I love my disk brakes. I can justify their need for the type of riding I do. I also know their downside and I am willing to accomodate to those aspects.

As a former long time resident of Minnesota I take GREAT offense to that.
It's like asking an old Brooklyn Dodgers fan to root for L.A.
I spit on your "Stars" (the franchise not the players) and curse the name of Norm Green.

It's nothing personal towards you jameyj, but that's about the biggest insult you could ever throw at a MN North Stars fan

It really sucks not having a Hockey season this year. I was pretty bummed. I am sure you were too! Well here is hoping that the puck sails across the ice once again in a NHL arena near you!

I actually gave up hockey when they moved the North Stars. It was six years before my (new at the time) girlfriend took me to a Lightning game (pre MN Wild) all the old feelings came rushing back and I've always been a sucker for the underdog. So that's the short version of the story
