Found this forum surfing the web along bike-related links, and it seems to be a great place to be.

I'm married with kids and we hardly ever drive in the car anymore. It's just parked outside - the poor thing haven't been taken for a drive in half a year now.

I just redisovered the joy of getting grease under my fingernails when I had to change the bottom bracket of my bike and so the other day I bought 6 wrecks/projects at a lost and found auction. Hence I guess I'll mainly be posting in the mechanic forum in the near future.

Look forward to spending some time here

What? With all that snow in Norway I would assume you can't use your bike or bikes at least six months out of the year. You must be taking public transit, or plan to take public transit if you aren't using your car. One other possiblity is that your town is so small, you walk to work. However, since your city has over 110,000 people, and since your city is the oil capital of Norway, I have to rule out the small city scenario. I would assume, though, with the cold and rain you must take some kind of special precautions with your bike maintenance. I myself live in Arcadia, CA, a suburb of Los Angeles, with about 14 million people living in the "basin" area. California now has something like 34 million people in the state. In Southern California, most days are sunny, but traffic is so heavy that most road bikers here are experts at dodging cars. The U.S. has so many cars that moutain biking became popular, but moutain bikes lack the feel of speed and grace that comes from a road or racing bike. The Los Angeles area, however, has many mountains in the area, the largest being, I think, the San Gabriel mountains, which are about 1 mile away from where I live.
