Stupid Excuses From Motorists!
Spire's 'First Time Screaming' thread in the 'Safety and Advocacy' forum reminded me of the most stupid excuse I ever got from a motorist.
She was travelling in the same direction as me and turned directly in front of me into a school. I had to slam on the brakes to stop myself crashing into the side of her vehicle and only just avoided a messy situation.
I followed her over to the carpark where she was going to pick up her daughter.
Her excuse? "I'm going to pick up my daughter from school. You should have given way."
What? She was trying to tell me that she could break the law and eveyone should stay out of her way because she had to pick up her little girl.
What is the most stupid excuse you've heard?

I generally don't bother listening to their excuses. If I don't approve of what they do, I generally skip that stage and go straight to the cops.

My thead was the only time and it was "I just didn't see you". About a year ago, a similar situation as MediaCreations happened to me, going down a hill, the light at the bottom turns red, the drivers swerves into a sidestreet to skip the light and hits me. Stops in the distance, I stand up and he drives away....

I didn't get this excuse on my bike but I was in an accident where a car backed into my car. Even though I wasn't moving when he hit me he said it was my fault because he worked at the store where it had happened. It just proves to me alot of people are much more stupid than I give them credit.

Not an excuse as such, but I do remember one incident one morning when I was riding up Springbrook. Some lunatic (obviously a tourist - didn't realise the road was a dead-end, scum!) gave me the honk and a heap of abuse out their car window. Well, being on a climb I just had to crank up the intensity didn't I?
Sure enough, I got up the hill in stupidly fast time and caught the tosser, who was suddenly full of apologies. Can someone tell me why a stupid metal box has such an effect on people?

Becaues when a person gets into a car their brain is removed.
They are like the little boy who shouts abuse over the fence, they feel safe in their little world.
I really believe that before someone passes their driving test
they should be made to ride a bike on the road.WHAT A LAUGH.

If, god forbid, I ever hit anyone, I would whip a U'ey fast as I could and make sure they were ok, give my deepest apologies (if it was my fault, we've got some pretty stupid people where I live) and of course give them my insurance info and make sure they got checked out at a hospital....
Ugh, what the heck... *trails off muttering profane words*
