Roubaix or Sequoia Pro
Been looking at comfortable road bikes, and seem to have narrowed it down to a Roubaix triple or 2004 Sequoie Pro. Will be for long rides and want comfort but since I'm new to this sport but a pretty good old runner I might be enticed to learn to race. What is the suggestion. 61 yrs old, 165 lbs 5'10" long legs.

I love my Roubaix. Find a good LBS who can fit you properly, and take a nice, long test ride. It's a great bike....well balanced, smooth, and comfortable. Good Luck !

The best riding Specialized is the Roubaix (carbon frame) for "long rides with comfort". But then the carbon framed bike is a bunch more bucks than the others. I recently rode the Sequoia Elite, and two versions of the Roubaix when looking for a bike to buy for my daughter. The Sequoia had slightly more relaxed seat and headtube angles, but the biggest difference (IMHO) is the chainstay lengths. Sequoia has longer chainstays which should make the bike more comfortable over longer distances, but less of nimble/responsive, climbing machine. All the bikes I rode had the Zertx dampers. When my daughter rode one, she immediately selected the Sequoia.
Fit, fit, fit is most important (as always). There are so many models of Roubaix that I'm not sure which one you are considering.

I'm an enthusiast for the Sequoia (mine's the Elite), and have been ever since I bought it. Not a slouch by any means--level for level it has the same components as the Roubaix, and weighs very little more. It's both nimble and stable at the same time. I doubt I'll ever outgrow it. That said, a guy in the club I ride with has a Roubaix, and I do find drool builing up at the corner of my mouth when I contemplate it.
