Sunglasses - all are too small?
When I first got into cycling 1 1/2 years ago, I grabbed a pair of cycling glasses for $20 at the lbs and they were great until I sat on them or stepped on them or something.
Got a 2nd pair at a bike shop....they worked great until, you guessed it...I broke them.
Now.....all of a sudden, for some reason, every pair of cycling sunglasses I try on feel tight against my head and I've tried 3 pairs and found them too small. They will give me a headache within about 40 min. of riding.
There are other options I have explored yet, like actual prescription glasses type stores, sunglass specialty stores, etc.... But has anybody else had this specific problem and can give me any tips?
Why did this suddenly start? Did my head get big (women always tell me I have a big head....I'm not "perfect", just "always right")? Are the sides of my head all of a sudden sentitive for some reason?

You could have worn those pairs for so long, it's created like a pressure point. You try any.. like different spots on your ears? goggle sunglasses? (lol)..

I have a friggin' huge head and my Oakley half jackets fit perfectly. They ain't cheap, but they work. Just don't step on them. 'Cause then they wouldn't work. And they'd still be not cheap.

Most of the lenses seem to be shrinking, too. Unless you want to get M-frames, with the big shields (work great, look kind of dumb), they all look like little bands in front of my eyes.
I finally settled on the Oakley half jackets which are OK, but even the tiniest bit smaller wouldn't cut it. Strange.
I also tried out the new Specialized glasses with the changeable lenses. They also look dumb (but as long as they work, I'm willing to deal with that). They just don't get dark enough for me. I found myself squinting all the time with them on.

When I had to go into the Eyedoctor for my exam, I wound up purchasing a pair of prescription sunglasses along with my regular glasses. I haven't gone back to the bicycling sunglasses, although you can get some filled with your prescription.

I sell Ryders in my shop. Tjey have a series of extra large glasses that fit my enormous cranium. They might fit yours. Ryders run $36 to $79.

Bolle Vigilante. I have a big head too. Most glasses on me look like they're made for kids. From the description on the Nashbar website - [The Vigilante is] "slightly larger than the Parole for more coverage or larger faces." They fit me quite well. $49.99.

Ok...I did a LOT of looking around and there is not one Oakley pair that will work. I went to an Oakley store....tried them ALL.
One thing is that I don't want some that are more cycling style (e.g. large wraparound lenses...preferably interchangeable lenses).
I think I found the magic formula...now it is only a matter of finding a pair that match. For some reason ANY pair that has the curved arms can NOT have thick plastic arms...only flexible thin metal frames will work (if curved arms). If plastic arms are straight, then they might be ok, but I think curved thin metal arms work the best.
Now.....to find a pair of cycling style glasses with interchangeable lenses like this. I saw one pair like this....would have worked, but they were el cheapo glasses and an ugly brown color. They didn't even have polarized lenses.
So anybody know where I can get thin metal flexible armed large lense wrap around cycling style shades with interchangeable lenses? Am I asking for my cake and TO eat it too here?

I think (only a guess) that somewhere along the way I've gotten very sensitive behind the ears so that the ones that put "any" pressure there give me headaches.
The dartboards were the only ones that would have worked, but they only had a white/grey arm frame style with a clear (not even shaded) lens. I really want to get interhcangeable lenses if I can since I do often ride day and often into the night/twilight too.
I did find a pair at Nashbar that may work.....but no way to try them without ordering them.

For the record....I just found an optical shop locally that carried those Wiley-X sunglasses/goggles. They are AWESOME!!
They are super light and the nose piece area is super light and flexible so that even in "sunglasses" form I felt no pressure back there by the ears. Then the ability to pop off the arms and make them into goggles was just icing on the cake.
I've already had them order me a pair (didn't have the right lens combo at store).
If anybody is interested in them, use the dealer locator from the Wiley-X website and try a pair out locally.

For the record....I've had these sunglasses now for a few days and think they are the best sunglasses on the planet!!! I like them waaaay better than I even thought I would.
They are so light and the arms are straight so I can leave them as sunglasses and don't even have to snap the goggle strap on...I can wear them as sunglasses just fine.
I went with friends on a tubing downt the Rainbow River trip Friday and wore them for about 4 hours without a headache. Today was the first test on a bike with them and had zero problems with them riding for about 2 1/2 hours.
These things just ROCK!!

i have a fat head too and hav eworn oakleys for a long time. recently straight jackets, i just got some monster dogs, which besides looking pretty damn pimp in tortoise shell i must say, give a little more coverage to my rapidly multiplying crows feet. oakleys are expensive i know but the optics pretty much rule.

Anyway....the Wiley-X have good lenses and quality too. As I mentioned above....you can google on them and find all kinds of info about them being used by military, law enforcement agencies, etc..... Many testimonies by soldiers in Iraq too. If I'm still as pumped about them after a few weeks of wear, I'll get the Rx lenses and a spare pair (can get them for like $60 on Ebay) so I can have a pair for driving too.
