My family and I have cut out all sourses of MSG (mono sodium glutimate) in our diet after finding out how bad it is for you. This stuff is hidden in many processed foods. Health issues range from anxiety to parkinsons.
For those interested check out Truth in labeling.
Here is a list of all the hidden sourses of MSG:

Definite Sources of MSG: autolyzed yeast, calcium caseinate, gelatin, hydrolyzed protein, sodium caseinate, yeast extract.

Also I would recommend a book by Dr. Blaylock "Excitotoxins . The Taste That Kills." You'll never drink another diet pop again.

Yes, large concentrations of MSG may cause short term physiological effects. And if you are sensitive to it, it would be wise major sources of it. But you are deluding yourself if you think you can cut it out of your diet completely. As any type protein will form MSG during the process of digestion. This is not a problem for people sensitive to MSG because digestion is slow in the release of MSG (as compared to taking MSG in pure crystal form).
