Fees/duties buy bike in Canada & ship to USA
To those who have purchased a bike in Canada (phone/web), and had it shipped to the US.....
are there any duties/fees other than shipping fees (such as UPS)? The bike Im considering will be a custom road bike made in Canada--poss. around $3000-$4000.
I've been given different info from 2 different shops...
one says 'there are no tariffs/duties because of the free trade agreement'...
another says 'there is a 6% duty of the total price of the bike'.
I posted on roadbike forums but no definite answer yet...
Thanks for your help!

A related answer, but not exactly on point...
I have bought plenty of XC ski stuff over the web from a few canadian shops, with $ amounts between $400 and $500. Not only did I pay no import duties, fees, tariffs, etc., but since I gave them a US shipping address, I didn't pay canadian taxes either.
