Hello all!

I go by NoRacer.

I'm a runner that is rehab'ing on a bike, but I've enjoyed riding bicycles all of my life.

Currently, I'm 47 years of age. Male.

I'm fit for my age, having run some road races, but I've not ridden in any bike races, nor do I Tri.

My average speed on my K2 Comfort bike is usually between 14-15 MPH, but I've had it as high as 40 MPH on a long downhill while in an 'aero' position.

Quite often, I'll bike for a couple hours a day and maybe 4 hours on one of the weekend days (60 miles) mostly on the roads, but sometimes on rail-to-trail trails. I prefer roads, though.

With gas prices climbing on the eastern seaboard, I'll be commuting to and from work (10 miles each way). I did so, this morning, with a 20 pound backpack of clothing, but with a little more planning, I think I can leave the backpack home.

Thanks for the forum. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute to the knowledge base in some fashion.

Welcome, NoRacer. I think no matter how physically fit I get I will still ride at the 14-15 mph that you spoke of. I've got almost a decade and a half on you, but I have been able to ride in comfort at that speed for several dozen years riding usually just under 8000 miles per year. I commute from time to time, but it is a 64 mile round trip for me. I usually make plans for a commute and leave clothes at work for such times.
