chain tension

hey, sorry to those who read this before, but i still have gotten no responses.
what kind of chain tensioners should i use for a frame with forward facing dropouts. the ones i've seen are on bikes with track ends. can i get some for mine? it'd be a huge help setting the back wheel.

thanks,

You need a tensioner that will attach to the dropout. The best is the Rennen Rollen... (can't remember the correct name) and the most popular are the Paul and the Surly.

Stay away from the imitations and from the Kore.

Send me the chain, and I'll leave it at my in-Laws for the weekend. That should be enough tension for anything......

anyone know what brand he's referring to?
i read the thread someone sent the link to (thanks! btw) and i think that could be an option. if someone knows the above name, i think i'll check them out, but other wise, i think i can use the method described in the mechanics thread.
thanks for the help people!

The rennen device is for taking up chain slack so you can run single speed with vertical dropouts. Similar to the surly singulator and clones. https://www.mtbr.com/faq/MTBR_com%20S...nTensioner.jpg

If you have horizontal dropouts you don't need anything to take up chain slack as you can just move the axle in the dropouts.

You want chain tugs not a tensioner.

thanks for the help everyone.
i stopped into a bike shop this weekend and looked at some. i got a set of the ones that look like spurrs and i'm gonna file them down so i can use them with my dropouts. other than the tab i have to file off they look like a perfect fit.
