Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bikes: 1 trek, serotta, rih, de Reus, Pogliaghi and finally a Zieleman! and got a DeRosa

The first ride

As ya'll know I've been building up a Serotta frame,
lacing wheels, gluing tires etc.
Tonight I took it out, and for 10 mile shake down
ride this bike wasn't an aria, it was more
like Stravinsky's Firebird suite.
One word description of ride? Glissando (sp?)
Still have a few minor adjustments to do but
damn. . .
the best part? I did it myself, all of it. I am this bike
(or is it this bike is me?).
More descriptions to follow.

Yup I plan on riding this one Sat.
I might bring the Trek, but that means switching
pedals, seats etc.
I felt really guilty taking the parts off the trek,
but deceided that I'm keeping it, not as a beater
bike, but as a "different" ride.
can't wait to get some real miles in . . .

glad to hear it lotek, after building my bike there were more then a "few" adjustments but I was still glad that that I did it myself.
