The seller says derailleur chains won't fit it which probably means that it's 1/8" though there are 3/32" track rings. Otherwise, the only difference is that a track ring will never be pinned or ramped for shifting. Of course neither were old road rings.

IIRC, superbe double and triple cranksets were 130 bcd, but at the same time i always thought that superbe track rings only went up to 50t. maybe i'm remembering incorrectly on both accounts, maybe just on one, or maybe this whole auction is a sham and ebay is one gigantic practical joke.

hmmmmm. how about actually asking the seller if it is 1/8" or 3/32", just to make sure. bet you never thought of that.

i am thinking that it's almost certainly 1/8". i may very well be wrong, but i am relatively sure that suntour didn't make 144bcd chainrings in 3/32".

okay - the old Superbe cranks are 144BCD (for road) as I have a set in the parts box. 53t is not a really common track ring size, yet is VERY common for road apps. I have a 60t ring (don't ask) that is Suntour and 1/8" - does that automatically make it track? No.
Older road rings weren't pinned/ramped (as trevor pointed out).
I would say, based ont he above - road ring. BUT, that does not mean it cannot be used on a track crankset.
If I remember correctly, the Suntour ring run was 48t-51t for track?

well, let's try and use our reasoning abilities. the seller says a derailleur chain won't fit. if this is true it is 3/32". 3mm is also more than 3/32". did he ask someone if the chain would fit, or does he have a 3/32" chain laying around? if he has the chain, it should be obvious what size the ring is. is this really that complicated? it just seems odd that the seller doesn't really seem sure if it is 1/8 or 3/32. he's got a bunch of other chainrings for sale, and none of them specify 1/8 or 3/32. it just say's "it fits my 10 speed chain" or "it doesn't fit a derailleur chain." the price is right, but how can someone with so many parts know so little. are these stolen or something?
