Legalize it: for your girlfriend to look like a true seasoned veteran, she has to lose the visor on her helmet, that is a dead giveaway. Only a rookie would commit such a cyclocross faux-pas
This is me doing a race in Washingon State (Tour de Tunnel in Port Townsend) last weekend. It was a great race, perfect weather, a good course, and lots of prizes.

Nice race today on a hill in Happy Valley, Oregon... although it didn't favor a singlespeed racing against geared bikes with the long gravel climb and the short muddy climbs.
Here I am huffing it up a run-up section. My Surly felt like it weighed about 40 lbs with all the mud on the tires at this point.

I'm the one in the middle running over the tripple barriers trying to catch green shirt dude.

A very exhausted gonesh9...

Damn it's nice to finally be home and relax with an IPA after that race.

Very cool photos. I watch crits and really don't want to jump in. But every time I see pictures of CX races, I think "That's for me."

Do these races ever have low barriers that you bunny hop over?

A buddy of mine managed to bunny hop the barriers you see above, on his mtn bike. Unfortunately, I believe he used more energy bunny hopping than he would have used to simply dismount and run...Also, on this same course, and many cyclocross courses, there are barriers at the bottom of the run-ups. This also makes it impracticle to bunny hop. Around here anyway, they seem to design the courses so that riders are forced to dismount several times each lap.
