Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? From Yojimbo's:

I almost bought a set today to go with the Colnago's red and deep yellow scheme and while it actually did look good, it's just way too much bling for me.

I went with blue FIR's.

I'm with you on that one absntr. I wish i could go 'champagne' on the whole surly. The idea of gold gold is too much for me. So I guess that bike will be a mismatched amalgam forever.

that frame is nice - and I need to hit up the 7-Eleven velo in the near future.
Do they keep it open still during off-race hours?

thanks. I love my gios. I ride it the most out of any of my bikes. i am pretty sure unless you train at the OTC they will not let you on the track in the off season.

V - see, when I was picking out rims this morning, I thought, hmm, let me see what the gold looks like. It looked pretty good. But overall, the bike was just so damn bling that I felt like it was a trophy or something, like it shouldn't be ridden. Because the paint scheme - solid red, deep yellow-gold is so rich.

BUT, with the surly in that baked bean colour, I think that would be perfect. Reason being, the brown is sort of dull and sits back in the overall -- it doesn't announce itself. That way the rims would stand out and pop and also blend in better due to the hues being closer on the palette.

I personally think it'd totally would look good on that bike. Perhaps the first time I've ever thought gold rims would look good on a particular frame.
