frame prep prior to brazing and powdercoating>>>>>>
hello all, some advice needed once more on the path to rebuilding my steel framed tourer. Stripped all components and i am left with a frame that has chrome plate on the rear triangle (unsure of terminology here? - drop outs and stays) also the forks are plated about three quarters of the way up. Discovered this when stripping the brush painted enamel paint job. The chrome plate has been keyed (sanded) to accepted the previous paint job and as a consequence is dull and scratched. I am about to have bosses for a front rack brazed on to the fork and also the rear too. Obviously the braze ons will be exactly where the chrome plate is, so do i need to stip the chrome prior to brazing? if yes how to strip chrome plate? sand blast? if no will powder coat adhere well to chrome plate?
what are the pros and cons? i desire a durable finish that will last a long time what is the best aproach with this? any suggestions please........
