Ok, have any of you bought a bike or frame based on the color alone? If so, what color? How many of you really care about what color your frame is? And why does that word look funny the more you look at it?

I do care what color my bike is. I wouldn't buy one frame over another because of color, but if a frame comes in a few colors I'll pick the one I like... and I have painted the bike I was riding at the time a number of times. I bought my kink empire revision b in black and then painted it red and then painted it white and grey camo. I painted it each time after about a year. I have had my Night Train for about two years now and have not yet painted it simply because I want to keep the powder coat, but I do want to get it chromoe plated. I'm an artist, I enjoy asthetics, I enjoy painting bikes, I enjoy my bike looking nice. I really think people who say, "Don't waste time doing blah blah, just ride your bike." are really stupid. It's really dumb. I ride my bike, I've been riding for almost 6 years now, I will ride for many more, I dont ride it 24/7, I do other things. I have time to paint my bike and do other things in life and still have fun riding. I can paint my bike and like how it looks and hear from my friends how pretty my bike is. It doesent make me any less of a rider and it doesent make someone anymore "hardcore" to not care what my bike looks like. I will agree that some people do take it too seriously and care more what their bikes look like than how they perform. I would never sacrifice performance for looks, but yes, I care about what color my bike is.

There's a reason I'm asking. For 2006, GT has heaps of colors available, whereas Haro only has a few. The shop I work at part time has put the Haro bikes on sale, because they're having trouble selling them. How messed up is that? Sure, the kids that are getting them aren't all that dedicated if all they're worried about is color, but who would take a GT over a Haro based on color alone?

See, that's stupid.. and now that I read my own comments, I'll add.. There nothing wrong with not caring what color your bike is, but to think it's necesary to be a "cooler" more "hardcore" bmxer like most do is stupid.

No, I've never chosen a bike due to the color. I choose my bikes by smell.
