Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

So, i was just on the puma web site and noticed they have a contest going. whoever owns the coolest bike wins another cool bike. ****ing lame. how about a contest that gives broke people like me a shot at a decent ride.

Bikes: bianchi pista workhorse, cannondale r1000, mountain bike fixed conversion

i definitely agree...how about giving away a new bike to the person with the crappiest bike so they can have a decent one? i've got a couple decent bikes, but i have one that would win that contest hands down.

Bikes: 2017 All City Space Horse, 2015 Jamis Dragonslayer, 2016 Velo Orange Pass Hunter Disc, 1991 Tommasini Competizione, 2018 Soma Wolverine fixed gear, 1996 Diamondback Outlook w/Crust Clydesdale, 1999 Torelli Corsa Strada (Coaster Brake Conversion ;] )

I think it'd be too hard to judge just crappiest bike. Maybe crappiest functioning bike and what you need it for would be the best judge. Personally I think they should just have a random contest instead of this "coolest bike" ****.

The impression I got was different from how all y'all seem to be taking it. The fixed gear 101 booklet they put out with Vice is pretty much a guide for building your first conversion. At the end it says "show us what you've done and we'll pick the one we like best." I'd be surprised if they give it to someone with a bling track frame kitted out with D/A, record, custom non-machined deep v's or whatever. I took as something aimed more at giving props to someone who builds a really nice or interesting conversion for him or herself rather than someone who dropped huge money. I could be totally wrong though.

Bikes: I built the Bianchi track bike back up today.

Just wait until those tires I bought from Marcus on Sat follow me back to Minneapolis through the mail. I'm gonna get my photographer-designer freind to take some UBER pron shots of my bike and you'll all lose!

Mwhahahahaha!!!!!!!!!
