need warmer swimwear
My winter swims will be in an outdoor pool. The pool is heated to about 80 degrees, but the air will be below freezing. Even now, when it's still in the 50s, my arms get cold (and my body along with them) when I swim. Does anyone have a suggestion for swimwear that's warmer than just a bathing suit, but that's less than a wetsuit? Will a bathing cap help my overall warmth? (Or will it just pinch my head?)

I find a trisuit to be a bit warmer than a regular briefs-style swimsuit, but it seems to me that a men's trisuit covers roughly the same amount of the body that a women's 1-piece swimsuit already covers, so you may not get any additional warmth by switching to a trisuit. You do lose a great deal of body heat through your head in winter, so a swim cap may function like a wetsuit for your head and keep you a bit warmer overall.
I've never tried this so it may be a bad idea, but have you tried swimming in tighfitting armwarmers that some folks use for cycling?

I'll bet a cap will help. Have you thought about a lycra suit? I used to wear one of those while scuba diving. Something like https://www.onlinescubalessons.com/store/lycra.html or https://www.scubadestination.com/subc...s__lycra_suit/ or https://www.divingduds.com/skins.html
Darlex is a bit warmer but I haven't had much luck finding links to products. Maybe try, https://www.scuba.com/shop/product.as...&utm_campaign=
Where's H20Chick? If anyone would know, it would probably be her. Or maybe RacerGirl.

Wait! Wait!! Here's the ticket!!! Thin enough to let you swim comfortably, thick enough to hide the fact that you're smuggling raisins!!!!

In all honesty, a standard lycra suit would probably be just as good but these things are cool! Maybe too much for 80-deg water though.

Thanks for the suggestions. The olefin rash guards look like they might be it. BTW, the photos of the suits on scuba.com are a hoot. They're almost soft core porn the way the woman is clinging to the guy. lol

I'm trying to decide between a rash guard shirt and the whole suit. I live up in the mountains, in snow country. I don't mind playing out in the snow, but cold water (or cold air when I'm in tepid water) is not my favorite thing. By the time everything has warmed up around here, we're well into tri season. So I'm trying to find a way to get my carcass into the water at least once a week during the winter.
I think a full suit would look dorky, but would the rash guard shirt ride up when I'm swimming? I'd rather look dumb than be uncomfortable. But mostly I want to be warm.
