Most of the parks and open spaces here in the springs have opened again after the fire. Due to a scheduling change at work...I have had to resort to early a.m. rides to get my fix. There is something about flying through rock and root infested single track in extremely low light that is enlightening. Havent had this much fun on my mountain bike in a long time.

A Few pictures from a recent ride up Cadair Idris in Wales, UK. (Putting the mountain into mountain biking)
Starting off with an easy water crossing
That, after some easy double track brings you to some nice, fast singletrack. (fast on the way down)
That takes you on to a stepped pony path which is tough to ride as you try and look at the views.
And then onto some pea gravel that at times has you wishing u'd stayed in bed.
Before the mountain starts to really test your metal
It's worth the effort for the view
You can rest at the top and admire the view.
Finished gazing at the world? Now turn around, turn off the lockout and hang on for the descent down the path you came up
Great ride and the weather held out. The 29er handled the terrain great, although it has a few war wounds because of the rocks. Walkers thought I was nuts.

Today I picked up some Kenda aggressive off-road tires for my trek mountain bike and rode 53.6 miles from palo alto in to east palo alto and over the dumbarton bridge to Coyote hills and rode around there till i hit a new trail called Alameda creek trail that went in to union city. Stopped for a small snack and turned around and rode back around the coyote hills and over dumbarton bridge, before i hit the bridge i found two stranded bikers with one that had a broken pedal on a cheap bike, one of them asked me if i had any duct tape with me, later i bumped into some mountain bikers and i started talking with them till we got to mountainview. After that i headed back home, now i have 1521.8 miles on my mountain bike.

Really haven't done much off road riding this year except on Sunday's with my adult kids. But rode this hot dry afternoon with my son at Riverside. Daughter was bummed because she had to work.

I might be able to, but I'm not the best guide, I haven't been on all the trails yet...........there's a norcal section on another site where you might have some good luck with "guides" ......

Today my friend and I rode 45.4 miles from Micheal's restaurant in mountainview to and down steven's creek trail till we hit Homestead rd, then left on los padres blvd and left again on Cabrillo ave and on to the San Tomas creek trail heading north. At the end of that trail we then rode on the San Fransisco bay trail that later connected to the moffett bay recreational trail and back to Micheal's for lunch, but later i found out one of my rear spokes snapped. For lunch i ate a burger with fries and my friend had a Chicken salad which smelled good. After lunch I rode home and to Cardinal bike shop and tried to get another spoke but they didn't have it, so i went to bike connection and they didn't have it either, next bike shop was mikes bikes and they had it, so i rode back to cardinal and they fixed it very quickly. Now i have 1640.5 miles on my mountain bike.

I've heard good things about Rossland. A few friends have made a couple trips up from Spokane that I had to miss

Diablo/Creek two Mondays in a row. Flume, Porch, and Pipeline drops crossed off my to-do list today. All three supah smooooove landers, though Porch can be a touch harsh, and Flume has some loose/gravelly stuff to avoid. Always had chickened out on them, and nailed two of them the first run today. Nice! Once I feel I've got them dialed and trouble free, time to look at the next couple larger ones - though they are quite a bit larger, so we'll see. I still suck at clearing tables/gaps, but I guess that is sort of made up for by being fairly decent at wheely drops and riding skinnies. I like progression, but I also dislike being ****ed up and not able to ride. 
Me on the Porch, and Anthem drops. Anthem requires more speed. Cased the sh#t out of it the first time, going a bit too slowly. No harm, no foul. More speed the next run set it right.
Eli on Flume.
Josh on Pipeline.
Eli left early, Josh and i did a few more runs. Were headed to go check out a supposedly ugly roller feature on Stigmata, via BMW trail when my rear wheel managed to intersect itself a bit too harshly with a wedge of rock. Did a little manual into a j-hop to get over some rocks, didn't quite clear things as much as I'd planned. doing said move at mach stupid made some bad, bad noises. Oops. Biiiiiig flat spot, lots of spokes flopping about, and a big crack = Dave taking Mary lines down the rest of the run, though I did hit Flume drop one more time...I mean, it is right at the end...
So. new WTB TCS Freeride rim on the way.
Pedaly evening ride at Trumbull on tap for tomorrow evening, after taking the dog for a run, grocery shopping, doing some house cleaning. Taking the hardtail, to restore some balance.

Got my first taste of night riding. I like it! Errands & whatnot took longer than expected and so I left the house later than usual. My cheapy lights are enough to get home, but I think I should get brighter on the helmet at least. Had my front fishtail on some gravel, was scary. Kept it upright though, and then promptly lowered the pressure a bit. Also, my elbow has been nagging for a like a week and a half now. It would seem I tweaked it on a ride but I have no idea how
