Bizarre Road Signs

I cycled past this one sign yesterday that went something to the tune of: "Litter and it will hurt". Weird.

Have you guys come across bizarre road signs?
What did they say?

I lived in Michigan for a while and once saw a sign that said, "I-69 to Climax" (there's a Climax, MI).

I don't know if this is a bizarre road sign but it sure is one of my favourites...

"Bike Route"

When I see one of these, I always feel like it should read, "Detour," instead!

Up on Skyline Blvd. (at around elev. 2300 ft.) in the S. F. Bay area a bit north of the ranger/fire station, there is a sign that reads something like:

Palo Alto, Pop. 58,000 Elev. 58 ft.

I always find this amusing since you have to climb up Highway 9 for 6 miles!

While riding the Pan Mass Challenge this year (3500 riders, 190 mi.) there were several neighborhood roads with signs posted that read "No Pedaling."

What is "Anti-Crusing"

Is this American homophobia made official, or do they have something against yachts ?

"Cruising" refers to the teenage tradition in the US of driving backi and forth along the same stretch of road (usually accompanied by about a dozen or more others doing the same) basically to show of their cars. Usually done by males to pick up the inevitable females lining the streets to watch the cruisers. If it sounds stupid.. well... it is. It usually annoys the residents of the streets so many cities have enacted ordinances prohibiting it. I'm not sure how well it's enforced. I guess if it's blatant enough...

I know an area in Florida that has some bizzarre signs. There are a few spots there where there are these little rises and signs on them that say "hills block views". It never occurred to me that anyone would expect hills to be transparent. Ya learn something every day.

When I was 10 yrs old we used to drive past Thetford Forest in Norfolk (UK) where a sign said "10 mile bottom". It was quite amusing to a 10 yr old.

Well it's not exactly a "road sign" but this steakhouse up the road from me a couple of miles has this big sign out front that they post their daily/weekly specials on. One day when I went by there it said something like this...

Special of the week
Grilled Hamster Dinner $5.99

I guess it was supposed to say grilled ham steak but someone did some creative letter rearranging. LOL

YUM YUM!!! Love me some grilled Hamster!!

There used to be a truckstop in Van Horn, Texas, right off of I-10. It had a big sign that read:

Diesel Fried Chicken

I wonder, did it taste a bit oily?

As students, we once stole a sign from a mini-gholf course. It read - Ball in water, one penalty shot -
This sign was placed in our toilets, above the urinal....

The big problem with the Burma Shave signs is that they were dangerous. Who knows how many accidents happened because a driver was reading the Burma Shave siigns?
