Anyone Christmas Shopping by Bike This Year?
I'm kind of late this year but tomorrow, I"ll have the bike ready for Christmas shopping. I recently purchased a real strong rack made by Trek (or so the LBS told me) and it held up well. The rack I had last year broke because of the cold weather and heavy load. It this time of the year you wish you had an Xtracycle and you can do it all at one time but I guess my Trek rack will just have to do. I'm curious as to what people will be carrying on their bikes this shopping season.
OH.. By the way, the cars were actually much nicer to me last night after seeing my purchase attached to the rear of the bike. This is one added benefit I didn't expect. ;-)

Did all mine this year on the bike. Did it in a couple of trips spread out over a few weekends. I hate doing mass/rush shopping anyway so this worked for me jsut fine.

I would like to do this next year (too late now!). Sounds perfect for an old Schwinn 3-speed coaster brake ride. A very light snow would make it perfect (I'm not asking for TOO much, am I?).

I have say that boxes are easier but items that are uneven tend to slide all over. The wind of couse can add additional complications but it's fine if you go slowly.

Yes, did most of my shopping by bike and took the bus to the mall once.

For Christmas shopping I prefer my large backpack. It makes the security guards nervous, but it makes sure that nothing gets stolen because it all goes with me. First I rode over to a nice part of town, the kind that has kayak stores, toy stores and good independent book stores, then I went to the mall and then back home. It's sure fun to pass all the cars seaching for parking spaces. The brisk weather is good too.

The forecast for today is 47 degree, so I decided to try out my new MTB saddle and new trunk rack. I did not have much xmas shopping left to do, but the ride was incredible. The cars here were a little more aggressive though. Maybe I should have worn a Santa hat.

I took all my packages to the post office on bike, bought some gifts on the bike. I live right between The Beverly Center mall and The Grove here in LA, Both uber packed and cars all over my hood. I can do the ride to the mall both ways, and get what I needed before someone could do the drive, let alone fight for parking.

hell ya. I just got my sis a gift card to her favorite clothing store, Got my bro-in-Law a french coffee press since he's a doc and stays up late/arrive work early. I got my dad a nice bottle-o-wine. And I got myself some nice Mint CHauo Choco Bars. All possible due to my heavily modiflied Grey Schiwnn Prelude. BooYAH!!!
