You can try the following links for information. Most of them have forums also, but I have yet to find one that I would recommend.

Maybe this forum should have a triathalon section? Or would that go against the principle ?

they ride bikes in a triathlon.... I don't see why we shouldn't have a tri forum for it.... perhaps our fearless leader can make such a forum.

Just try searching on Google with : triathalon <your area> [2003]
I'm not sure if all 2003 events would necessarily be scheduled and/or listed online yet.

This is (sort of) a tri discussion forum. It is actually a tri section of a a larger running discussion group. I don't frequent the "Multi Sport" forum much but I find lots of useful and entertaining things elsewhere on this site.

I run a free triathlon board you should check out - I am looking for dedicated members to help moderate sections, etc. We have some good features, including photos and classified.

A thread focused on the cycling aspects of triathlons would be a welcome addition to this forum, for two reasons.
The bicycling event of a triathlon is, well, a distinct form of bicycling on par with the racing-commuting-touring-etc interests that are enthusiastically discussed by the cyclists who come here.
Bike Forums is a nice place. The editors and contributors have set the tone for positive, informative and thought provoking exchanges of ideas and opinion. I have not found better, anywhere else on the 'net.
I believe a triathlon thread would be in tune with the complete spectrum of cycling discussions that take in this forum. I hope it does come to fruition.
A dedicated thread would also provide our already open-minded community with a readily available introduction to the sport, for those who are not yet that acquainted with it.

If you are UK based I can supply you with a good site for all the UK based tri events 2003 including some international events,
My wife and I did our first last year and we are totally hooked. We are doing some team events this year including some with mountain climbing and canoeing included.
Come on Bike forums lets have a TRI board yea

Add my vote. I originally bought a serious bike (as opposed to a MegaMart cheapie) in order to do a triathlon. I started riding my bike to work so I could train after. Without realizing it, I became a commuter!
Right now I'm training for an Olympic distance tri in April and (if my work and family life allows) I'll do a couple more over the summer.
I've tried TriNewbies. Nice bunch of folks there but the site isn't organized very well. I spend a lot more time here.

I've done Olympics for the last 3 years, doing my first half-ironman this year and a little freaked. I'm just not a runner.

My ultimate goal is to do an olympic triathlon. I've never even tried a sprint triathlon, but I'm working toward it possibly late this year, but more realistically early next year. Got a bunch of weight to lose first. I've just been cycling for about 11 months now, and I started swimming once a week back in Nov. but my doctor told me to stop that until my shoulder heals up (probably the end of Feb).
I've checked out a few tri sites. One I did find interesting, in terms of articles for newbies was www.triathlete.com. They also have a forum, but it doesn't look to be very well organized. At a minimum, I'd suggest checking out the articles. Some good tips and training techniques.
Good luck and let us know if you find a good forum for triathlons.

I'm doing an olympic this year just because I'm tired of listening to my wife and mom tell friends that I do "mini triathlons" ! Hey, they're called sprint distance triathlons and they still take me an hour and a half!
Now, when I tell my mom I'm doing an olympic distance tri, she'll probably end up telling her friends that I'll be competing in Athens 2004....

Yeah, it rubs me a little bit when Sprint Triathlons are called Tinmans too.
I wish there was a more affirming term for Half Ironmans while we're at it. Half anything just doesn't sound positive.
Ah well, when you care about something you can't help but to become more sensitive to it.
